What is Mediation?

Mediation is a way of helping parties in dispute communicate with each other. The mediator acts as an impartial third party who works with all disputants so that their concerns can be addressed. The aim is to seek a way forward that is acceptable to everybody involved.

What are the benefits of using Mediation?

It’s low cost.

It’s quick.   Mediation can be completed in just a few weeks.

It’s confidential*.   Everything that happens in the mediation process is confidential to Bristol Mediation.   We will not pass any information on to the other party or to any other agency without your consent.

Our service is independent.    We are not part of the council, the police or any other organisation.

Mediators are neutral – they do not take sides or make judgements.   You are in charge.   Our service aims to assist people who want our help. You can withdraw from the process at any stage.   Each step of the process will be agreed with you and you will be in control of  the final outcome.
